AUGIES QUEST

With every sale of this special edition HIJINX® sunglass, Oakley is honored to support a crucially important cause, MDA’s Augie’s Quest ALS Research Initiative.

Many heroes have fallen to ALS, including baseball legend Lou Gehrig. The affliction causes critical nerve cells to die, leading to widespread and devastating loss of vital muscle tissue. ALS leaves the mind generally unaffected but inexorably takes away the ability to speak, walk and do everything we take for granted. Paralysis and death may come just a few years after diagnosis.

Augie and his wife, Lynn

Augie and his wife, Lynne

Now a new hero, fitness pioneer Augie Nieto, is fighting his own courageous battle against ALS. After receiving his ALS diagnosis in 2005, Augie decided to transform despair into hope. He and his wife Lynne allied themselves with the Muscular Dystrophy Association to create MDA’s Augie’s Quest. This aggressive initiative is now making history by funding fast-track, innovative research to conquer ALS once and for all.

Oakley is honored to support this effort. With every sale of this special edition HIJINX® sunglass, we are contributing $20 to MDA’s Augie’s Quest, creating a vision of hope in the fight against ALS.

Each frame is highlighted with a custom rendition of the MDA’s Augie’s Quest logo, and a matching MICROCLEAR™ bag is included for lens cleaning and eyewear storage. We took all the music, art and life that inspires Oakley athletes, distilled it into clean and uncomplicated style, and crystallized the attitude into HIJINX®. A comfortably lightweight O MATTER® frame, it gives you the clarity of HIGH DEFINITION OPTICS® (HDO®) with patented innovations like XYZ OPTICS® for razor sharp vision at every angle of view.

This special edition is enhanced with Black IRIDIUM® lens coating for balanced light transmission in bright sun. Glare reduction is 99.9%, thanks to Oakley polarization that optimizes vision by eliminating the haze and distortion common to ordinary polarized lenses.

I lost my husband Patrick Sept. 18, 2008 to this terrible disease. He fought right up to the very end with never a complaint. I pray that in my life time they find the cause of ALS.

My very physically active father is falling to this horrible disease. To watch him become locked into his body is heartbreaking. My heart goes out to families everywhere suffering from this devistating disease.

My father was a wonderful father who died of ALS in August of 2004. Like Lou Gehrig, he was a hall of fame athlete (basketball), but was unable to beat this terrible disease. Lord willing, Augie will be the one to do it.

- Rob Yardley from Santa Ana, CA

If we can find a cure for ALS, it will save many people from the suffering that my sister endured. Augie Nieto is a leader in raising awareness and funds to fight ALS, and I am very grateful to him and to those who are battling for ALS patients.

- BARBARA C. ROSS from ATLANTA, GA
