- Can I get polarized lenses in my non-polar glasses?
- Oakley Polarized lenses are made thicker than standard or Iridium coated lenses. Due to the thickness of the lens, frames are made to fit around polarized lenses. Polarized lenses would not properly fit into frames that are intended for standard or Iridium lenses.
- Can I change the color of my glasses?
- Oakley offers a wide variety of color combinations of both frames and lenses. We ask that our customers carefully select the right one for him/her before committing to the purchase. For warranty purposes, we offer part for part and cannot change the color of the frames. Only a select few pairs of glasses, such as the M Frames or X Metals, do we offer different colored lenses for purchase regardless of the original color combination. Please contact Oakley’s Customer Service for more information.
- Can Oakley lenses be buffed?
- The Iridium coated lenses should be treated with special care. When not wearing your Oakley glasses they should be stored in the Micro Bag received with your glasses. Use only the Micro Bag to clean the lenses. If you need to use a cleaning solution, use a mild soap with warm water, do not use any solvents or chemicals. The Micro Bag consists of extremely fine fibrous threads tightly woven together. The actual thread substance and construction method are of a sponge-like quality that lifts grease, moisture and dirt from the lenses. The Micro Bag is machine washable and should be kept clean.
- Can I purchase the M Frame separately for my extra lenses?
- The frame only is not available for purchase. The lenses are made to be interchangeable with the original frame. If the frame has cracked or is broken due to what seems to be a defect, they can send it in and once evaluated as a defect we'll replace the frame at no charge if covered under warranty, or for a nominal charge if outside the warranty coverage.
- How can I tell if my Oakley’s are real or not?
- Determining if they are real or counterfeit is very, very difficult to accomplish over the phone. Send them to Oakley for our certified technicians to evaluate the glasses.
- How should I send a package in for warranty?
- We always recommend that all customers send their packages in with some sort of traceable or insurable carrier. Oakley cannot be held responsible for items lost in transit.
- Are my Oakley glasses OSHA or ANSI Z87.1 approved? What is the difference?
- All Oakley Eyewear meets or exceeds ANSI Z87.1 standards for optical clarity and impact resistance. Oakley has not taken additional measurements for OSHA standards. Please check with your employer for which standards may be required for use at work. OSHA Standards (—) 29 CFR, Eye and Face Protection (—) 1910.133 Federal regulated standards in which employers must comply for the protection and safety of their employees. This standard obligates employers to enforce the uses of appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to hazardous materials, liquids, vapors, chemicals or other harmful substances. It provides specific requirements of such protection allowed in the workplace. OSHA references ANSI Z87.1 as the benchmark standard for occupational eye and face protection. Section (b) (1) Protective eye and face devices purchased after July 5, 1994 shall comply with ANSI Z87.1-1989, "American National Standard Practice for Occupational and Educational Eye and Face Protection," which is incorporated by reference as specified in Sec. 1910.6. www.osha.gov ANSI Z87.1 - Practice for Occupational and Educational Eye and Face Protection Standard Z87.1 (—) 1979 American National Standard Institute is a private, non-profit organization. It includes the specific standards for evaluating factors such as impact resistance, lens thickness, projectile penetration, and optical quality.
